Turns + Jumps
Class will focus on the most important technical components for any dancer – leaps, turns, and legs. Dancers will work on flexibility and correct placement for grand battements, leg holds, and tilts. From the most basic of turns (chaine, pique, pirouette) through the advanced turns (attitude, arabesque, coupé, fouetté, à la seconde, multiple pirouettes) and variations of all of the above. T + J also progresses from basic leaps and jumps (tuck, pike, toe-touch, c-jump, jeté, and second leaps), to advanced leaps and jumps, such as cabriole, switch leap, switch-second, capezio/ring, calypso, turning c-jumps, tilt jumps, reverse leaps, and turning disc leaps. The student’s goal is to execute a series of complicated turn, leap and grand battement (kick) patterns technically correct and safely before advancing to the next level.
